Dr. Aletha Maybank is the Chief Health Equity Officer at the American Medical Association, making her the first person in this position. A board-certified pediatrician in preventive medicine/public health, she previously served as the Assistant Commissioner at the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene. Dr. Maybank’s expertise includes preventive medicine, food and fitness, maternal and child health, cancer, HIV/AIDS, community health, and health inequities.
