Dr. Andrea Lawrence is the first Black person to earn a Ph.D. in computer science from Georgia Institute of Technology. She is also an associate professor and the former department chair in the Department of Computer Science at Spelman College. Dr. Lawrence is also the Immediate Past President of the Association of Departments of Computer Science/Engineering at Minority Institutions (ADMI). She also is the recipient of the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Association for Computing Machinery Special Interest Group in Computer Science Education, for her commitment to broadening participation in computing.
