Dr. Freeman Hrabowski has served as the president of The University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC) since 1992.

Dr. Freeman Hrabowski has served as the president of The University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC) since 1992. Under his leadership, U.S. News ranked UMBC in the top 10 “most innovative” national universities. Dr. Hrabowski’s commitment to the participation of marginalized students in STEM includes co-founding the Meyerhoff Scholars program and (co)authoring Beating the Odds, Overcoming the Odds, and Holding Fast to Dreams: Empowering Youth from the Civil Rights Crusade to STEM Achievement.

Fun Fact: Dr. Hrabowski was a child leader in the civil rights movement, and was featured in Spike Lee’s “Four Little Girls.”
