Dr. George Carruthers is a physicist, inventor, engineer, and space scientist. His UV telescope/spectrograph and image converter invention provided the first proof of the existence of molecular hydrogen in interstellar space. This invention was then used by NASA for the first lunar walk of the Apollo 16 mission, allowing scientists to examine the Earth’s atmosphere for concentrations of pollutants and see UV images of more than 550 stars, nebulae, and galaxies for the first time.
