Dr. Karl Reid is the Executive Director of the National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE), whose mission is “to increase the number of culturally responsible Black Engineers who excel academically, succeed professionally and positively impact the community.” He has long advocated for college access and opportunity for low-income and marginalized youth. His research includes the relationships between racial identity and self-efficacy, and their influence on the academic achievement of African American males in higher education. Dr. Reid is also the author of Working Smarter, Not Just Harder: Three Sensible Strategies for Succeeding in College…and Life.
