Dr. Shirley McBay is the founder and former president of the Quality Education for Minorities (QEM) Network, which is dedicated to improving the education of minority students. She is also the first Black Ph.D. graduate of the University of Georgia. Prior to creating the QEM Network, Dr. McBay served as the Dean of Student Affairs at MIT, Professor of chemistry at Spelman College, and a Program Director at the National Science Foundation.
