Mr. Lloyd A. Quarterman was one of the few Black scientists chosen to work on The Manhattan Project, a top-secret project that developed the country’s first nuclear weapons. He is best known for working with fluoride solutions to develop new chemical compounds and molecules. He also regularly spoke to Black students about pursuing degrees and careers in chemistry.
