Mrs. Bessie B. Griffin was a physical therapist, inventor, writer, and forensic scientist. In her position as a physical therapist, Mrs. Griffin successfully helped WWII veteran amputees to accomplish daily tasks using their teeth and feet. She later invented and patented a self-feeding device to eliminate reliance on other people to eat. In her second career, Mrs. Griffin became a forensic scientist with law enforcement in New Jersey and Virginia, where she was able to identify a correlation between a person’s handwriting and their health.
